Brazil can become the largest net-zero nation by 2030 and help the world compensate up to 1.9 Gt CO2e per year in 2050.
That is the main conclusion of the report—Amazon’s Marathon: Brazil to lead a low-carbon economy from the Amazon to the world—a study supported by AYA Earth Partners, Deloitte Brazil’s local alliance focussed on the ESG agenda, which is being launched at COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
Written collaboratively by a wide range of experts and institutions including top scientists, leaders in the public and private sectors and renowned NGOs operating in the Amazon region, the report discusses eleven theories of change to unlock the region’s immense sustainable development potential:
• Value of the standing forest • Sustainable agriculture • Net zero industry and energy • Innovation in Biotech • Green job creation • Well-being • Prosperity • Ancestral knowledge and culture • Rule of law • Financial structures • The Global South as the epicentre for collaboration
Join our #ClimateExchange Livestream to discuss solutions for Brazil and the global community to save the Amazon and turn it into a key pillar in the global race to net zero.
Speakers:
• Patrícia Ellen, Founding Partner/AYA Earth Partner • Anselmo Bonservizzi, Deloitte Brazil ESG Lead Partner
